An MBSSE Policy Development and Review Platform
The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) develops policy guidelines for the implementation of all learning and teaching related activities in the pre-primary, junior secondary and senior secondary levels of education in Sierra Leone.
To further enhance and strengthen our inclusive and collaborative policy making process, MBSSE is using this online platform for our partners and citizens to annotate and provide feedback on specific draft policies for consideration.

The Education Act (2004) mandates the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education to approve schools both for operation and government assistance. MBSSE seeks to make approval processes transparent, free from political influence and efficient.

MBSSE's flagship program is the Free Quality School Education (FQSE) initiative. With FQSE, school enrolment is at zero cost to parents and learners from pre-primary through senior secondary because of tuition subsidies. These guidelines are for schools' use of those resources.

Pre-primary education was not formally part of the government education sector service delivery plans until the advent of the Free Quality School Education (FQSE) policy of the Govt of Sierra Leone in 2018. This ECD policy seeks to support children to achieve their potential.
